Since 2019 is upon us, and this is the last post of 2018, I thought it only fitting to do a round-up of some of my favorite products from the past year! We're getting into everything from skincare to makeup to snacks and shoes, so sit down, grab a snack, and get comfy because this is gonna be a long one!
Let's get started with some skincare ESSENTIALS.
First up is my favorite serum from Lancome, the Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector has been my go to activated serum. I love this one because it diminishes the look of fine lines and pores in just 3 days. This is great if you have sensitive or acne prone skin OR you want to fight early sign of aging. This serum is noncomedogenic, non-acnegenic, and dermatologist tested for safety!
Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector, $80
Next up in our skincare category is something new to me this year. I struggle with sensitive skin and if I get too aggressive physically with my routine, I can get contact dermatitis in two seconds flat. That being said, I have a hard time finding exfoliants that don't rub my face raw. I'd been toying with the idea of a chemical exfoliant for a while and finally got up the courage to try one. The Tarte Knockout Tingling Treatment is a 10% acid treatment that uses glycerin, niacinimide, salicylic acid, lactic acid, sulfur, AND arctium kappa root extract to clarify, soothe, and hydrate your skin. Watch out though, if you're new to acids, this puppy BURNS! But you get used to it over time! This exfoliant is Vegan and formulated without the following: parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten.
Knockout Tingling Treatment, $39
Last up is a day time moisturizer from Dermalogica that boasts hydration, anti-aging, AND sun protection. I'm talking about Dynamic Skin Recovery. I love this so much. It's rich without being heavy. It has an SPF of 50. AND it has polypeptides to help reduce the appearance of aging. This feels great on it's own and performs beautifully under makeup! This moisturizer is great for normal to dry, sensitive, and aging skin types. It is vegan, cruelty-free, dermatologist tested and is free of the following: parabens, gluten, and artificial dyes and fragrances.
Dynamic Skin Recovery, $72
Moving away from skincare, I want to talk about a couple of knockout makeup products from the past year. I have so much makeup and I'm constantly trying new things. I feel it's my responsibility to know and understand many different products so that I can know what to recommend and advise people to use. That being said, here are some first-class products.
My favorite foundation this year has by FAR been the NARS Sheer Glow. I have pretty normal skin but I like to treat it more like its dry. This foundation is a nice, medium coverage with a natural glowing finish. It has a huge shade range which is awesome for pastey people like me. It lasts all day, doesn't absorb into my pores, and is super hydrating. If you like a full coverage or have oily skin, this product is NOT for you. But I LOVE it. This foundation is dermatologist and ophthalmologist-tested, noncomodogenic, cruelty-free, and formulated without the following: parabens, alcohol, and artificial fragrances.
Sheer Glow Foundation, $47
Having dry skin, I struggle with powders. Many accentuate my dry skin and I look like some kind of freaky human shaped lizard. It's not a good look. I struggle with product breakage in my cheek and chin area, though, so powder is a most. This year I discovered Flower Beauty's Light Illusion Perfecting Powder. This product is just awesome if you have a dryer skin type. Flower has formulated this powder with a special type of pigment that blurs pores and fine lines while illuminating the skin. And the best part, NO GLITTER! This powder is manufactured in The USA, cruelty-free, hypo-allergenic, and noncomedogenic.
Light Illusion Setting Powder, $13
If you were to ask me what my favorite step in my makeup routine was, it would hands-down be blush. I love blush, I collect blush, I've made my own blush. I can't get enough of it. My favorite blushes have to be Benefit Box-O-Powder, specifically in the shade Rockateur. If there ever was a "rose gold" blush, this would be it. It's illuminating without being glittery and looks good on ANY skin tone. The Box-O-Powders are well-formulated and go on super smooth. There's literally a shade for everyone. This blush is gluten-free and cruelty-free.
Box-O-Powder in Rockateur, $30
I have two brow SUPERSTARS for you and both are from Benefit! First up is the Precisely, My Brow Pencil. I LOVE this pencil because it's super skinny and creamy so it's easy to create feather-like strokes that emulate natural hair growth. Then we have the 24-Hour Brow Setter. This is basically hairspray for your eyebrows and I'm loving every second of it. Both of these products are gluten-free and cruelty-free.
Precisely, My Brow Pencil, $24
24-Hour Brow Setter, $24
Last up in our makeup category is lipstick. I'm a huge lipstick fan and have way too many. When I think about a good lipstick, I think about the quality of the product and also the price. I have some expensive lipsticks and they're great but why wouldn't I buy multiples of something have the price that's just as good? So this year, my favorite lipstick is the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick. I love ALL of these lipsticks. They have the comfort of a cream lipstick with the finish of a liquid lipstick. These are hydrating, creamy, non-shiny, GORGEOUS lipsticks.
Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick, $7.49
Our last category is completely random and a collection of just my favorite things. To keep things short I'm just gonna throw up some pictures and a link to wear you can find everything online!
That's all for this year friends! I hope you enjoyed this round-up of fun products as much as I enjoyed creating it! There will be no post next week, January 4, because I will be on vacation! Posts will continue the second week of January. I hope you have a blessed holiday and a happy new year!
Peace,
Megan
